Difference between medical alcohol and industrial alcohol

Methanol is highly toxic and has the greatest effect on the human nervous system and blood system. Ingestion through the digestive tract, respiratory tract or skin produces a toxic reaction. Methanol vapors can damage respiratory mucous membranes and vision. Symptoms of acute poisoning include: headache, nausea, stomach pain, fatigue, blurred vision and even blindness, followed by respiratory distress, eventually leading to paralysis of the respiratory center and death. Chronic toxic reactions include: dizziness, drowsiness, headache, ringing in the ears, loss of energy and digestive disorders. Toxic reactions occur when methanol intake exceeds 4 grams, while a small glass of more than 10 grams of methanol can cause blindness in both eyes and death from excessive intake.
